Recognising the Innumerable Sacrifices of a Mother - Mother’s Day Special

Mother’s Day is one such day to recognise her hard work and sacrifices. Our loving words, attention and well-being are all she wants in return.

Recognising the Innumerable Sacrifices of a Mother – Mother’s Day Special

Mother! It is one of the most beautiful words that we ever know. She is the first person a newly-born baby comes into contact with. Right from bearing a child to nourishing it in the womb, raising and protecting it from all troubles; she does it all without any complaints, without any breaks, without any expectations. And this process continues throughout her entire life.

A Mother is Definitely the Form of God

There are verses in the holy Vedas where mothers have been highly-regarded. A verse from the Atharva Veda describes a mother as the first teacher of her child, first guru of her family and the first Goddess of her home. Likewise, the Rig Veda honours mothers through its various hymns dedicated to them. The teachings and values a mother instil in her child prepare him to deal with life’s challenges. She is also responsible for her child’s spiritual and moral upbringing. A mother is an institution to her child who weaves his life, inculcates values in him, and is the source of unflinching support for him.

Gurumaa – My Guardian Angel

As a daughter, I consider myself extremely fortunate to have Gurumaa as my mother. The energy and values she passed on to me have shaped my life. Her personality is imbued with great aura and divine love. She truly represents Shakti (the Divine Feminine Power). I have learnt from her to be humble, caring, compassionate and thoughtful. She has enlightened my life. Whatever success I have achieved today, I owe it to my Gurumaa.

Mother’s Day – A Celebration of Mother Power

Mother’s Day is one such event dedicated to the struggles a mother undergoes to nurture her child. With the journey of motherhood starts the journey of sleepless nights and unending challenges. A woman starts making countless sacrifices in her personal and professional lives as soon as she becomes a mother. Now, her priority lies in shaping the life of her baby.

There have been many magnificent women in the history of India who are respected as inspiring mothers. Let’s know about these strong-willed mothers.

Mata Sita – Believed to be the incarnation of Goddess Lakshmi, Devi Sita is among the finest examples of mothers who raised her twin sons – Luv and Kush – all alone and ensured they received best education and values, just like their father Bhagwan Ram.

Mata Devki – A mother can go to any extent to save the life of her child. Maa Devki did the same after giving birth to her eighth child Bhagwan Krishna. She willingly went through all sorts of terrible suffering to save her newborn baby from her brother Kansa.

Mata Jijabai – The great land of India will always remain indebted to Rajmata Jijabai for giving birth to great warrior Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. As the advisor to her son, the fierce lady helped him make key landmark decisions during his rule. She was the force behind Shivaji Maharaj’s establishment of Hindavi Swaraj and uniting the Maratha clan that was in disarray earlier.

Rani Lakshmibai – Despite all odds, the Queen of Jhansi refused to budge from her stand and never surrendered before the Britishers. For the glory and honour of her empire, she kept fighting till her last breath. Strapping her son on her back while fighting the enemy, she showed unimaginable valour.

Prominent Figures in Modern Time

In today’s context, we see many personalities who have credited their achievements to their mothers. PM Narendra Modi, former Indian President and noted scientist Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, ace cricketer Sachin Tendulkar, badminton champion PV Sindhu, celebrated boxer Mary Kom – all these achievers have given the credit of their success to their mothers.

Mother – the Epitome of Selflessness

The love and care of a mother are unconditional. There is no way we can pay back to her. Mother’s Day is one such day to recognise her hard work and sacrifices. Our loving words, attention and well-being are all she wants in return. That’s all about being a mother.

Happy Mother’s Day to All the Wonderful Mothers!
