Adopt Mindful Eating Habits

According to the Philosophy  of Yog, there are direct connections between diet and the mind. And for a healthy body and mind, you should adopt ‘Mindful Eating Habit’. It is a way to control dietary habits for purifying the body.
Having its roots in mindfulness meditation, ‘Mindful Eating’ is about becoming completely aware of what you should or should not eat. It’s also about listening to the body, its requirements and staying conscious about what you’re putting in your mouth. The diet you take should enhance your energy, produce calmness, happiness, and mental satisfaction. It should also enhance your longevity and spiritual awakening. And therefore, Satvic diet is an integral part of Mindful Eating habits.

Satvic Diet

The Yogic Philosophy says, if you want to move on the path of Yog and happiness, you must include Satvic diet in your lifestyle. It makes your body energized and not lethargic. Know that ‘Satvic’ means pure, pious or righteous. Such a diet is considered to be the purest diet for anybody who is on the path of spirituality and also health-conscious.

Anyone who seeks a calm, meditative, and contented life will find a Satvic diet worth adopting. It is rich in fibre and low in fat. It focuses on seasonal fruits, nuts, vegetables, healthy oils, seeds, whole grains, legumes, and plant-based proteins. Such a diet also includes sprouts, honey, nuts, grains, ginger, Jaggery, unrefined sugar, turmeric, black pepper, Coriander, fresh herbs, milk and various dairy products.

Every food item that is righteous is nutritious, juicy, and delicious and therefore you should always be motivated to follow a Satvic diet plan.

Following a Satvic Diet Plan

Adopting such a dietary plan isn’t a difficult thing to do. It starts by planning the kind of meals to eat, which are expected to include a balance of protein, carbohydrates and fats. Choose fresh fruits, dairy products, vegetables, legumes, whole grains, and nuts.

Also, as much as possible, make Mindful Eating a part of your daily habit. That means, deal with all forms of distractions while having your food. Chew your food carefully and peacefully and not in a haste. The portions served must be according to your capacity.

Further, food should be consumed at the same time regularly. So, if you take your breakfast at 8 am, then it should be so every day as it makes the body anticipate food during that time which improves your bodily function.
Also, any food requires time to get digested, else it can affect normal body functions. It is always advisable to eat two hours before you go to sleep.
