A Warrior with a Fearless Soul

Where there is fear there is no Dharma, no spirituality, and no nation. And one man who understood it from the core of his heart is Maharana Pratap, known for his ‘Absolute Fearlessness’ on the battlefield.

In 1576, he fought the famous battle of Haldighati. His enemy’s army was highly outnumbered, but Pratap fought with exemplary courage. He always fought his enemies with great guts without surrendering. Even when almost all his fellow chiefs were serving the mighty enemy, he refused to accept submission.

Due to such courage and fearlessness, he is still an epitome of heroism showcasing the real spirit of freedom, pride, and bravado.

Still, sometimes, even the bravest of the brave must face self-doubt. Maharana Pratap is not an exception.

The Self-Doubt of Maharana Pratap

Once, after a war, Maharana Pratap took shelter in a forest. One day, his queen was preparing bread for their children when some animal took away the piece of bread from her hand. She felt helpless and then Maharana Pratap felt sorry to see his family in such a grieving state. He got angry with his courage and self-respect and started thinking of surrendering to his enemy.

In such a dithering state of mind, he wrote a letter to his enemy for truce. But an admirer of Maharana Pratap wrote a reply boosting his morale and deterring him from calling a truce. After seeing that letter, Pratap regained his strength. His mind calmed down.

He gave up the thought of yielding and started strengthening his troops intensely thereby immersing himself once again in accomplishing his goal with fearlessness.

Although he could not win back his land, he fought the enemy until the end of his life with great courage.

Even his enemies were the admirers of his grit and courage.

Fearlessness, a Divine Virtue

According to the Bhagavad Gita, ‘fearlessness’ is one of the ‘Divine Attributes’ and the attribute is a prerequisite for the growth of the other noble virtues. No one can seek truth or glory or cherish Love and respect without fearlessness. And therefore, it is said, the path of God is that of heroism because with God everything begins- glory, truth, reverence, and eternal happiness.

Fearlessness implies freedom from all external dread. You are not afraid of any disease, or any material loss or any unfortunate demise of near and dear ones or losing status or anything else.

But in life, how to be fearless?

Attain the Virtue of Fearlessness

Absolute fearlessness can be achieved only by seekers who realize the Supreme God and His great powers. And for that, you must be free from delusions and self-doubt. You can progress towards this profound goal with determined and consistent efforts and by increasing confidence in yourself through Yoga & Meditation.

Understand that all your fears move around the body. You are afraid of any physical harm and this fear will disappear as soon as you get rid of the attachment for the body. And once that will happen, you will realize that all fear is the baseless construct of your own vision.

And then there will be no fear in your body. You will become free. You can still enjoy worldly things by renouncing them, just like Maharana Pratap. He lost it all, still lived courageously for his whole life and engraved his name in golden letters in the chapters of history.

So, to win the battle of life, learn from Maharana Pratap and be fearless in all your personal, professional, and spiritual pursuits.
