Love your parents MORE now!

Life is really short. Time flies by quickly and once you lose a parent, you understand just how fast time goes by. Ordinarily, when they are younger, people don’t always appreciate their parents for all that they do for them. They don’t have enough time for them and in extreme circumstances, some people just leave them in their last days.

Our respected elderly just do not deserve to be neglected.

Always appreciate your parents and let them know that you love them deeply while they are still alive, yet do not forget to pay tributes to them when they are no more by following all rituals during the highly pious period of ‘Pitru Paksha’ or Shradh.

Paying respect to Ancestors during Pitru Paksha

Shradh is a pious occasion to pay tribute and respect to ancestors. It is believed that during this time ancestors come down to bestow their blessings upon their children. This is an opportunity to offer food to Brahmins and donation to the needy. It symbolizes offering food, and other gifts to ancestors and forefathers as a sign of reverence.

During this time, also perform Tarpan, a beautiful ritual that marks the temporary life of humans on the earth. Pitru Tarpan is also a way of gratifying the ancestors. It frees them from any unfulfilled desires so that they can finish their journey to the heavenly abode with satisfaction, peace, and happiness.

The person who performs the Tarpan during Shradh, receives the blessings of the forefathers. And by doing this you can remove all the hurdles of your life. While it’s essential to practice all these rituals during Shradh, it is even more essential to love and respect them when they are still with you.

Now is the Right Time

Indeed, it is always better to give parents a little now than to offer them all the materials of the world when they are gone. Understand that your parents love you unconditionally and make sacrifices to give you a good life. Naturally, you have an even bigger responsibility as a child to listen to them, respect them, be honest, be indebted for their hard work, and love them back.

Undoubtedly, your parents have seen more life than you, and they’ve learned great lessons from it. It’s time to admit they know more than you and they also know what’s best for you. Therefore, you should not only listen to them attentively, but respect unconditionally what they are asking you to do.

Your Parents Love You More than You Know

At times, your parents may advise you by taking into consideration your best interest while you think that they are being unreasonable. Your parents, for instance, would always say, “study well, work hard and have faith in God.” You may not like that phrase right now, but deep down you know, they are right.

Always keep in mind, your parents love you more than you know. You might be taking them for granted or you might not be grateful enough right now. Tell your parents now that you love them and show it with your wise deeds. Give them your time and unconditional respect because they deserve it. All they expect from you is love and a little bit of time to sit with them and lend them your ears.

Finally, also understand that your parents may make you feel bad at times. However, remember that not all children had the privilege of being raised in a home enjoying all the parental guidance. So, be thankful for that and love and respect them in return.
