Lord Shiva’s Family; An Epitome of Equality

Lord Shiva holds a pivotal role in a large family, wherein each member lives peacefully without any discrimination.

Lord Shiva’s Family; An Epitome of Equality : The family is the most vital unit of society. For growth in life, everyone needs a united, strong, and peaceful family. There should not be any space for discrimination in this family. And the family of Lord Shiva is a perfect example of such a beautiful family.

A Household of Mutual Love & Respect

Lord Shiva holds a pivotal role in his large wonderful family, wherein each member is different. They differ in attire, nature, appearance, actions, likes, dislikes, and food habits. Yet, all live with mutual respect and love. They have a strong connection. They take care of each other and empower each other.

Further, apart from His own family, Lord Shiva keeps the company of a wonderful team. In it there are bovines, goblins, reptiles, animals, demi-gods, and demons. There is no prejudice of colour, race, or creed. There is no discrimination here as well. Everyone lives without any complaints or conflicts.

Such a show of equality and non-discrimination is rare now.

A Household of Peaceful Co-Existence

Lord Shiva is the personification of renunciation and minimalism. He dresses in tiger skin and deadly snakes for ornaments around His neck. Goddess Parvati, on the other hand, is a princess, as well as a devoted wife. She dresses exquisitely and adorns herself with lavish jewellery.

Lord Shiva’s elder son Kartikeya is a brave warrior who has left the comforts of home in order to serve people. The younger son, Lord Ganesh is considered the remover of obstacles. More so, the vehicles of all these family members are opposed to each other.

Kartikeya’s peacock is the biggest nemesis of Lord Shiva’s snakes, whereas the food of Goddess Parvati’s lion is the vehicle of Lord Shiva. And of course, Lord Ganesha’s tiny mouse cannot be compared to Lord Shiva’s bull or Goddess Parvati’s lion.

Moreover, the food, competencies, talents, and lifestyles of all these animals are completely different-yet, in spite of various differences there is no hostility and they are part of a united family. All are equal and all are respected by each other.

A Powerful Message of ‘Zero Discrimination’

Lord Shiva’s family intends to give a powerful message to society. It teaches all to live wisely, respecting and utilizing the good as well as not so good attributes of others in the family. It is necessary to achieve a common goal which is peace & prosperity.

After seeing such a family, which is obviously the example of ‘Absolute Equality’, anybody can say the family showcases how to follow ‘Zero Discrimination’ policy in society.

In this family, everybody is equal, living a happy, dignified, and productive life. Such a family is a fountainhead of compassion, happiness, and peace.

Today, on Zero Discrimination Day, let’s hope that each and every family in the world promotes such inclusion and peace. It should build a movement of solidarity to end all forms of discrimination from their surroundings.

Certainly, when each family member will promote each other, support each other,  see the Divine essence in one another, the relationship among all would automatically become strong and harmonious.

And a gathering of such families will surely grow into a healthy, happy, prosperous, and equal society.
