It’s not an Ordinary Teachers Day!

“I have always felt that the true textbook for the pupil is his teacher.”

— Mahatma Gandhi

Teaching is one of the noblest professions. Teachers are the ones who choose a challenging career path to spread wisdom and knowledge. A teacher not only teaches the students but also contributes towards the shaping of their personality and character.

Needless to say, they are role models for many and are respected by everyone.

Recently, everyone has seen how Covid-19 created a unique situation. It forced educationists to find quick solutions to ensure the continuity of education at all levels. Thankfully, the learning never stopped and for that, no one should forget the role of teachers.

It was amazing to see how teachers all over the world adapted to virtual teaching quickly in order to maintain the continuity in education. Behind the closed doors of school buildings our teachers have worked tirelessly during these difficult times. And these times have magnified the brightness of these guiding lights. And that makes this Teachers Day special.

Teachers and their Hard Work

All over the world, teachers never gave up while they too mastered the skill of providing virtual education. They showed exemplary patience and creativity to continue doing their duty. In fact, during the entire pandemic period, along with doctors, nurses and paramedic staff, teachers have also shown their maximum potential and must be honoured by all.

Despite the unimaginable crisis, they not only shaped the minds of millions by creating digital awareness and enhancing knowledge, but also played a crucial role in instilling moral and ethical values among online learners. They led in crisis while fighting with their own personal health problems and also have shown amazing skills in adapting to the Covid-19 situation.

In a short time, they learnt how to use a wide range of online tools and made education accessible, creative and also fun for learners. This would have been simply impossible without their hard work.

The Virtue of Creativity

On the occasion of Teachers Day, let’s show gratitude towards these guides and Gurus for all they have done using their creativity and freshly-learned skills.

They reached out to learners via internet. We have seen how School classrooms have been replaced with digital classrooms and teachers taught through innovative communication platforms. Challenges were there, but they developed skills to enable a smooth learning process and adapted to the changing learning environment. In some countries including India, where internet was not accessible, teachers helped students learn via phones.

In fact, teachers turned themselves into books and notebooks for millions of students who were then able to continue their education just by listening to them.

Mahatma Gandhi has rightly said that the true textbook for the pupil is his teacher. Let this Teachers’ Day be a reminder that teachers will continue to be the backbone of the education system and that everyone will support them at all times.

Happy Teachers Day!
