One of the noblest occupations is that of a teacher. A classroom teacher teaches systematically while a spiritual teacher shapes us up and awakens us. This day is celebrated to recall the contribution of our late President Dr. S Radhakrishnan. But much before that we have had the best teachers who gave knowledge and wisdom to the rest of the world. Maharshi Patanjali gave timeless wisdom. Sandipani taught Shri Krishna while Vashisht Rishi was the guru to Shri Ram. Buddha & Mahavir Swami were also great spiritual teachers. I also feel women have excelled in their role as a teacher in view of their inbuilt qualities like greater tolerance. They can nurture children with care and love and also handle other responsibilities.
In skill-based jobs also, in certain segments, I feel teachers are doing a yeoman’s service to mankind.
In today’s hard time of Corona too, teachers have fulfilled their duty through online classes. Each of you have helped students to go on and have always extended a helping hand to them.
Again, I extend my sincere greetings to the teachers and thank them for their role in nation-building.
