One of the noblest occupations is that of a teacher. A classroom teacher teaches systematically while a spiritual teacher shakes us up and awakens us. On this day is celebrated to recall the contribution of our late President Dr. S Radhakrishnan, whose birth anniversary falls on September 5. But much before that we have had the best teachers who gave knowledge and wisdom to the rest of the world. Maharshi Patanjali gave timeless wisdom. Sandipani taught Shri Krishna while Vashisht Rishi was the guru to Shri Ram. Buddha & Mahavir Swamy were also great spiritual teachers. Alexander was the student of Aristotle..
I feel women have excelled in their role as a teacher in view of their inbuilt qualities like greater tolerance. They can nurture children with care and love and also handle other responsibilities. Hence, automatically, they qualify as more efficient teachers. With the increasing needs of the society, e.g. health & wellness through Yoga & Meditation, I feel women can contribute a lot particularly because they are aware of balanced diet requirements.

In skill-based jobs also, in certain segments, I feel women are doing a yeoman’s service to mankind.
Again, I extend my sincere greetings to the teachers and thank them for their role in nation- building.
