The joy of Vaisakhi

The joy of Vaisakhi | Happy Sikh New Year | Dr. Archika Didi | April | 2018

Let us come together and get lost in the feel of joy, celebration, and festivity, wishing everyone a happy Vaisakhi. Dr. Archika Didi (Meditation Guru)

In the mid of April, amidst the heat of summers and the chills of lemonade, we find ourselves celebrating Vaisakhi. A festival that further has three festivals within it.

Marks the beginning of the Sikh new year

It is the time when crops are harvested and it was this time in year 1699 when guru Gobind Singh Ji commemorated the formation of Khalsa Panth. It is the festival that welcomes everyone from all over the world to join the celebration and party along.

Sikhs and Punjabi around the world celebrate Vaisakhi by coming together and participating in various activities. A major chunk of people visit fest and outdoor arrangement which includes food, games and entertainment unit. Vaisakhi and Sikhism remains open towards every religion, caste and gender. Each individual is treated equally as it is believed that no human is bigger or smaller than the other.

People share their stories from Vaisakhi, they share meals and experience Sikhism by its roots. It teaches us that we all are the same, we all must remain pure to our origin and teaches us about Sikhism, Khalsa and its origin. It also marks harvesting and people thank the hard working farmers for their efforts and the crop. Let us come together and get lost in the feel of joy, celebration and festivity, wishing everyone a happy Vaisakhi.
